Cabin Air Filter
Tools you will need:
I have always wondered why the 944 didn’t come with a cabin air filter. I looked into buying the one from a 968, but it would cost $150 for the cover/housing plus two $60 filters. So, here is what I did.
I went to home depot and bought a filter for a home AC unit. They come in many different sizes and qualities. I bought the cheapest and smallest, which will do about 4 or 5 cars, so you have extra. It only cost $4.
Now open up the filter, and take the paper frame off the actual filter material, but keep the metal backing attached. Then take scissors and cut a square a little bigger than the metal cover.
Flatten out the filter material that you just cut out. Then put it in the back of the metal frame and use your fingers to form its shape.
Trim the excess from around the edges of the metal frame. It should look something like this. Make sure that you leave filter material hanging over the edge. It will make the filter much easier to install on the car.
Now install it back on the car and enjoy a cleaner cabin. Much less dust will collect inside the car now. Remember to check the filter often. Mine gets dirty pretty quick. Check every 3 to 6 months.
